Michelle Ochonicky
Eureka, Missouri
Mike has been named one of the top 200 Traditional Craftsmen by Early American Art Magazine. Her scrimshaw is included in the permanent collection of the Missouri Governor's Mansion and has been featured in newspapers, magazines, and on television. She has been working at scrimshaw for over a quarter of a century. She works on cow bone, deer antler, and sometimes palm tree seedpods, but never whalebone. The ivory she occasionally uses is that of discarded piano keys.
