A retired educator and arts administrator, James Huelsman came to metalwork later in life. While living in Europe, he took notice of metal and its use for adornment when touring museums. After returning to the States, Huelsman began learning basic jewelry fabrication techniques. Living in Oklahoma, he has continued his investigation of metal ornamentation and is recognized for this approach to wirework and interest in shallow sculptural space.
We are happy to carry an array of his Fusion jewelry! To create these pieces he combines bronze and Argentium sterling silver. Heat oxidation, brushing, cutting and layering are involved to create a final piece. These pieces can be sealed in a Renaissance Wax, but if left untreated will naturally darken and create a more diverse piece.
