Bob began making small, hardwood jewelry boxes as a hobby in the late 1980s. As people became aware of his work Crown Woodcrafting was born. Having retired in 2004 from TWA and American Airlines, he is now creating boxes full time.
All of Bob's boxes are constructed of hardwoods, many of them native to Missouri. The finish sets his work apart, as he sprays on two coats of pre-catalyzed lacquer, scrufing it lightly, by hand, between each coat. In that way he obtains the beautiful, long-lasting finish of quality furniture. And, in addition to providing a durable, long-lasting finish, the lacquer intensifies the natural color and beauty of each type of wood. All of the raw wood is hand-selected for its individuality and beauty. Combined with his fine craftsmanship, the end product becomes an heirloom-quality piece, to be treasured and handed down through the generations.
